When it comes to using technology and apps in raising your children, there is an endless debate on whether or how much should it be used.
From my experiences, apps and gadgets can be reliable friends that help you manage different aspects of parenthood. Some of them are so useful I cannot imagine parenthood without them! Here are some of the top technology tools that could help you in parenting.
The gadgets
Baby monitor
Baby monitors have been around for a while and already are accepted as a classical parenting gadget. They are irreplaceable when it comes to observing the safety of your kids. If you ask me, baby monitors with video option are better than those that rely on audio only, and if they also have the infrared option for the night vision, even better.
Baby sleep sound machine
Lullabies are sometimes simply not enough. In order to get your little one to sleep (and in order for you to get some sleep as well), you can check out the white noise machine with soothing sounds. The Three Sheep White Noise Machine includes different nature sounds designed to induce sleep both in kids and adults.
Pacifier thermometer
High body temperature is a common problem in babies and measuring their temperature is a common problem for their parents. You can avoid all the fuss by “tricking” your baby with this Summer Infant Pacifier thermometer and see whether your baby needs an immediate medical care or not.
Ultrasonic humidifier
This isn’t a gadget specifically related to children but you should have it in mind as a helpful tool to provide your children with the best living conditions. I would recommend to you a portable, compact humidifier, like this Fancii Cool Mist Personal Mini Humidifier you can use when you travel. It will help your children when they find themselves in a different climate to avoid difficulties in adapting to it.
Nightlight
And, finally, don’t forget about the good old nightlight. There isn’t a simpler solution if your child is afraid of the dark. The night lights sold today usually don’t interfere with your child’s sleep and also come in many amusing shapes. My favorite option is a 3D dinosaur light that looks like a prop from an SF movie.
The apps
Baby Connect
Available for Android and iPhone, Baby Connect is more than a planner. It is an essential tool for coordinating your life as a parent, track your baby’s sleeping schedule, remember all the medical appointments or time for meds and vitamins, and be always sure you are on the right track with your chores.
Baby Nursery – Breastfeeding Tracker
Particularly useful for first-time moms, this simple app (which is also free) successfully fulfils its main goal – helping you with everything related to breastfeeding. It allows you to keep track on the frequency of baby’s feeding, the time of the feeding, and even amount of milk they need. Additionally, you can use this app to track your baby’s development.
Life360
If you are going through that phase when your child starts going out more often and you still can’t avoid all the fears, you can use Life360, an app which allows your kids to check in. It is actually great when you need to coordinate with the entire family as well.
Photomath
Maybe it has been a while since you have done anything math-related and it is totally okay if you cannot remember all the tricks and formulas. If you still want to help your child with their homework, Photomath is your buddy. It gives you step-by-step tips and solutions based on the photos of math problems.
Best of parenting
This free app is for parents who want to learn more about how they can improve their parenting skills. The app contains a great collection of advice based on the world’s most diverse parenting methods. Whichever parenting challenge you are facing, the chances are this app has an answer for you.
Mom Maps
Finally, an app that solves one of the greatest parenting questions – what are the best kid-friendly places near me? Mom Maps still doesn’t have the info for every corner of the world but it is developing rapidly.
Lifecake
If you are one of those parents who enjoy capturing every possible memory, you will enjoy this, so to say, digital scrapbook. It is one of the top-rated family apps with almost perfect score yet it is so simple. You can use it to create astonishing photo albums and videos which get organized on a spectacular timeline.
Modern tech has made so many parenting chores much easier, right? Even more, sometimes I think we must be the luckiest generation of parents because we have so many fun options with the latest gadgets and apps. In addition to being useful, these digital bits can also enrich our parenting perspective.
