If there is one thing that I adore and that makes me anxious at the same time, it’s decorating my house for Christmas. Of course, I look forward to having fun with my family, singing carols as we transform our place and having an awesome photo shoot afterward.
On the other hand, these things cost, especially for us who love to try something new every Christmas.
Can you even purchase Christmas decorations without killing your budget?
Yes, if you drop shopping tours in your local mall. Decorations get more expensive each day as Christmas is approaching. However, you can always rely on online shopping and find some madly favorable discounts. Over the years of doing my Christmas dec shopping online, I’ve developed a system of my own. It’s simple – I buy in bulks and I buy DIY Christmas kits. The results are so effective I always manage to save some money to buy more gifts for my family.
Buying in bulks:
This will help you not only to save money but also to create a good aesthetic base for decorating the house. Here are some great deals I’ve found recently:
- Bauble Christmas ornaments – 52 pieces at the price of $23. 50 cents a piece sounds almost surreal, especially as I was seeing similar ornaments sold separately, costing around $2 a piece. This design is the very definition of Christmas if you ask me.
- ITART Christmas ornaments set – This set, also designed in traditional Christmas colors, is the perfect solution if you have a big tree and don’t want to spend ages looking for ornaments that actually match. The set comes with 122 ornaments diverse enough to keep your tree interesting.
- Rose Gold Bauble ornaments set – If you want to make your tree a bit more flashy, this set should do the trick. It comes with 80 pieces of differently shaped ornaments.
- Mini Christmas symbols – I’ve bought something similar last year and I thought I will hang them on a tree, but we eventually hanged them all over the place. The set includes 24 completely different ornaments that will probably make all your guests say “aww” as they reveal them piece by piece.
- Christmas Pillow Covers – Don’t forget the details. I love matching my pillow covers to the season, so on Christmas, I usually get something like this.
- Reindeer Candle Holders – Christmas candles are a great addition to the window or table decoration. Buying candle holders means you don’t have to purchase expensive candles that burn in a second anymore – regular candles you can buy in bulk still look stunning in holders like these.
On the other hand, you can create your own decorations
But if you want to avoid all the mess that usually goes with completely homemade Christmas crafts, maybe you want to get some ready-made kits that still allow you to get creative.
Here are some cool options for ready-made kits:
- Wall Christmas Tree DIY Kit – Perfect for your kids’ room. It comes with a set of flat ornaments but you can always add some of your own or even put some Christmas cards and drawings on the tree.
- DIY Glitter Christmas Ornaments – Coming with foam and glitter sheets, this is a mess-free option for creating flashy ornaments convenient for the tree or even walls.
- DIY Nutcrackers – My family loved these because the set allowed each of us to have their own version of this symbolical Christmas figure; the set includes 6 blank figures, as well as little color pots.
- DIY Ornaments Kit – If your kids are still too young for more complicated crafts, this option should work in their favor. The kit is simple to use, and it includes stickers and color pens, besides the blank ornaments.
- Wood Slices – The set contains 25 natural wood slices which are pre-designed as tree ornaments (they come with holes and the set also includes jute twine), but I used them as table dec as well. You can draw on the slices with virtually any type of colors, and you can save some slices for other holidays.
- Bonus: Glitterville’s Handmade Christmas Book – Before you engage in Christmas crafts, you can get inspired from this book which includes hundreds of original ideas. It will make your Christmas craft shopping much easier!
I hope this list was helpful. I also hope you have a few Christmas tips on saving some cash – if you do, please, feel free to share them with us in the comments!
