Fun Valentine’s Day Crafts: Heart Cookies:
This is one of the best Fun Crafts for Valentine’s to bond with your kid. You won’t make Valentine’s day cookies without letting your cute little bundles of joy add some sugar to them. Here is a simple recipe of heart-shaped cookies:
To make 25 cookies within the baking time of 11 minutes, take 280 grams of the all-purpose flour, 150 grams of sugar and 170 grams of unsalted butter. You will need half a teaspoon of baking powder, a pinch of salt, and two teaspoons of vanilla extract. You will also need one large egg at room temperature.
In a bowl, whisk the baking powder, flour, and salt. Use a stand mixer or a hand mixture to beat the butter for about one minute. Add sugar to it and beat for a couple of minutes.
Add vanilla extract and egg, beat for another minute. Now combine the wet and dry ingredients. Roll out the dough in about ¼” thickness.
Refrigerate for at least a couple of hours or up to two days. Preheat your oven at 177 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the dough with a heart cookie cutter.
Bake for just 10-11 minutes and let them cool down for 5 minutes. For decoration, take 10-14 tablespoons of water, 3 tablespoons of meringue powder and 480 grams of confectioner’s sugar. Use a hand mixer or a stand mixer to beat all the icing ingredients for five minutes.
Use a piping bag to decorate the cookies. Serve after 3 hours.
Valentine’s Day Handmade Cards
Take a white blank cardstock or watercolor paper. Draw a heart shape on it and fill it with a bright red color. Write a sweet little message with a crayon, marker or a pencil.
Fold it in half and draw multi-colored patterns, mini hearts, zig-zags, stars or spirals on it. Use glitter glue and stickers for a fancier card. Let the glitter glue and paint dry out properly for at least 5 minutes in an airy place.
Take a heart-shaped cookie cutter and press it firmly against the outer part of the card to make a visible heart outline. Overlap the heart shapes and fill them with different colors to help them stand out. Use school glue to add rhinestones and sequins to the hearts.
Cut a heart shape out of a flat sponge dip it into tempera paint and lightly tap it against your card. If you want you can roll up your card and tie it to a string of embroidery floss. Hot glue the embroidery floss to a small bottle’s cork and then put your card into the bottle and pop its cork on.
You can also wrap your card around a small wooden spool to mimic thread. Use a twine, embroidery floss or yarn to tie the card in a bow around the spool.
Smooth little river stones painted with messages are unique Valentine’s cards. Pick a size that can fit easily inside the palm of your hand. Wash it with soapy water to help the paint stick firmly to its smooth surface.
Paint it with red acrylic craft paint and write your message with a thin brush. Let it dry.
An airplane or a butterfly-shaped card is more appealing, attractive and memorable than a regular rectangular or a square one. Write your sweet little message on its wings using a golden or a silver marker.
To refresh your sweet memories, make a mini photo album with photos of yourself and the recipient. Don’t use large photographs but scan them into your computer and resize them. Print out 2×2 inch photos and write your messages on them.
If your valentine is a chocolate or a candy lover, you can stitch an envelope out of felt and fill it with candies. Your kids will love it. Take a sugar sheet, don’t fold it or it will break into half.
Cut a heart shape out of it and write your message with licorice or red frosting. Let it dry for a couple of hours. Glue a lollipop or a candy to it.
