Kids' Activities

Activities that can help healthy brain development in children

Healthy brain development in children is a strong base that leads to a prosperous future.

The first few years of of your child’s life after birth are extremely important. Have you ever imagined why it’s easier to make a small child learn something rather than an adult or an older kid? Small kids of up to 5 years of age are natural and quick learners. Healthy brain development in children works with that natural learning ability.

This is due to the fact that they’re still exploring new things and excited for the same, unlike the children who are already bored with doing stuff that allows them to learn something.

When parents complain that their child is not learning, it’s not the fault of the child. They are responsible for healthy brain development in children.

It is the responsibility of parents to involve the child in activities that allow the natural mental capability to expand because of which he/she becomes smarter and efficient beyond imagination.

Here are some of the activities for children to build up their brain into a healthy system for a promising future ahead.

Talk:

Although small kids cannot talk properly, it is advised to the parents or the caretakers to talk to them by directly looking into the eyes because that’s how you will communicate with them. This way, your child will gradually learn things like an adult and will surprise you one day with something that you never expected from them.

Storytelling:

Reading and storytelling are advised to be one of the best methods for a healthy brain development of a child. This is due to the fact that reading helps the brain to understanding things better than anything else. Also, the storytelling should be done with hand movements and strong facial expressions to make it interesting.

Physical activities:

Physical activities such as:

  • Stair climbing.
  • Playing with the water, in the mud, or rain.
  • Building blocks.
  • Making sand castles
  • Educational toys.
  • Cooking with them.

All of these physical activities are just a glimpse of what you could do with the child and there are many more which you can perform on a daily basis to help the child in their brain development.

Show:

Children tend to learn more with presentation instead of boring them with the lectures. Try to show them stuff such as a colorful chest of drawers. Instruct them to open a specific color and take out the clothes or use a set of glasses to pick their favorite color.

Allow them to explore:

Never stop children from exploring in their own ways. You can allow them to play in the mud, stay longer in the bathtub, play with the kitchen utensils, do things on their own such as reaching a higher point. All of these activities allow the brain to explore things in a more natural and subtle way.

Use Pictures:

Pictures are the best way to illustrate things to the kids because their brain reacts much faster when exposed to the pictures rather than verbally explaining things to them. Make sure that you have the picture book with all the important animals and other important things. You will notice that how quickly your child will learn. You can even test your child in a fun way. It is a way of making your child learn new things in a fun way.

Take them to zoo and museum

It is important that you take your children to zoo and museum at a very early age. They might not understand what is happening there, but your children will get fascinated with the colors and the shapes they will see. It will help in the development of perceiving power of the brain. As well as it will give your child the confidence to ask questions. Make sure that you answer their questions so that they will develop the qualities of qualitative and quantitative learning.

Board games

Make sure that you bring board games like puzzles and scrabble in your house. It is very effective in development of problem solving techniques.

Brain development of a child is 2x stronger than any anyone else.

This is why you should make sure to engage them in activities that are healthy in terms of building up a sound mental state.

As a high school math teacher, I know the importance of involved parents when the babies are young and the brain is developing. This is a great post, and hopefully a reminder to all parents out there to do all they can to build their baby’s brain!
