9 simple methods to get your kids to sleep, easily!

9 simple methods to get your kids to sleep easily

Does putting your baby to bed require superpowers?

To get your kids to sleep sometimes seems impossible. There could be many reasons for a child’s sleeping problems: physical discomfort (for example, when the tummy hurts or teeth are growing), the prominent stages of development (when the baby is about to move or speak). There are also more serious cases of child insomnia: for example, ICP – intracranial pressure.

If your baby has difficulties with falling asleep, your first stop should be to visit the pediatrician or the neurologist. But if there are no serious reasons for concern, use one of these proven methods.

Then a quiet child’s dream will be your victory and reward!

Method 1 – Rocking

One of the most popular ways to put a child to sleep is to rock them in your arms, in a sling, on a fit ball, or in a crib or cradle. This method is ideal for the youngest children, because it reminds them of a wonderful time – staying in the mother’s belly. Usually the kids fall asleep quite quickly, because a close person is nearby, and the child feels the warmth and regular beating of mom’s heart. The only drawback is that you need to have a great patience, because you have to rock the baby until they go to deep sleep.

Method 2 – Breastfeeding

If your baby is among the lucky ones who are breastfed, then you probably noticed that he often fell asleep during a meal. The bottle doesn’t work quite as well, but it is also effective.

Nevertheless, sometimes when the mom tries to take the breast (or bottle) away, the children often wake up. In addition, the older the baby becomes, the more difficult it is to put the child to sleep using this method.

Method 3 – Cosleeping

Many mothers practice a co-sleeping with a child. It combines the previous two methods, because the mom does not need to take away her breast and put the baby in the crib. Feeling a familiar smell, the child quietly sinks into sleep, and Mom does not need to get up several times to feed the baby.

It seems that this method is ideal. However, this is not so. Often the father of the family has to sleep on a separate bed. Moreover, it is not comfortable for the mother to sleep, because the child wakes up every time she moves. However, each family decides what temporary difficulties it is better to accept. After all, everyone needs sleep. So sometimes sleep is more important than any other consideration.

Method 4 – Order

This is the most effective way to put the baby to sleep. Day after day, you must follow the same actions before sleep. For example, having a bath, feeding, and then falling asleep must come strictly at the same time. It turns out that a child’s sleep could also be scheduled. You can achieve a lasting result only by performing repeated actions every day without breaks and days off.

Unfortunately, there are also disadvantages to this method. In our bustling life, it is not always possible to follow the schedule clearly. In addition, the results will appear no sooner than in a couple of months.

Method 5 – Alarm Clock

If you keep a diary of a child’s sleep, you will notice very soon that they generally wake up at the same time. The baby has already developed their habits, even if they are difficult to call well.

You can correct the situation, although no one promises a 100% result. When you manage to find out what time your child wakes up, you can wake them up exactly half an hour before that time. Then you can gradually increase the intervals between awakenings until the desired result is achieved.

This method doesn’t give you quick results, much like the previous one. And it is rather painful for both parent and child. A child, having lost the habit of waking up at the same time, can start to do it chaotically, and then it will be necessary to adjust the whole system of sleep again.

Method 6 – Patience

If you decide to start using this method, now, as never before, you will need to be calm and patient. First, wait until the baby begins to show signs of sleep – they rub their eyes, yawn, or cry. If before that it was excited, you need to calm your baby without rocking and feeding. Then put the baby in the crib and stand near it, trying to prevent tears. You can sing a lullaby, lightly rock the crib, but you cannot take them in your arms. If the baby does not fall asleep in 15 minutes, and the tears turned into a real hysteria, pick them up, and soothe while not letting them fall asleep in your arms. Then put them back in the crib. It should take no more than 45 minutes in the afternoon and about an hour at night. The result will be obvious in a month.

9 simple methods to get your kids to sleepMethod 7 – Bath

As a rule, a warm bath with calming herbs works well. Look at how your child behaves after having a bath: sometimes babies become excited after it. If your child, fortunately, refers to the group that begins to rub eyes after swimming in warm water and quickly sinks into sleep, it is great. Right after bath, you should feed the baby and put him to sleep in the crib.

Method 8 – White Noise

As usual, little children fall asleep more quickly hearing monotonous sounds such as the hum of a vacuum cleaner, a hair dryer or the hiss of a radio. The sound of falling water or a lullaby melody without words will also help. Find the right music or the right sound and turn it on every time you put the baby to bed. It is worthy of note that the sound should be barely audible, for not to interrupt the child sleep.

Method 9 – Cosy Nest

This method works very effectively for the youngest children. All you need is to make a blanket similar to a cocoon. Swaddle the baby or just hide the arms so that they will not awake themselves.

Note that the blanket should not be too close to the infant’s nose, so that the child does not suffocate during sleep. As a rule, newborns are not yet accustomed to a large space, so that frightens them. Therefore, the cocoon wrapped from the blankets will remind the child of the carefree time in the mother’s belly.

Have a good night and sweet dreams!
