Many families give up activities that would help all of their members grow and develop because of the lack of time. The solution is simple – use the time you are spending together anyway to engage in some quality activities.
Once you adopt such a model of family time, you’ll probably come up with more ideas and all the family activities will be of top-quality. So, let’s start!
1. See a documentary on a family movie night
Instead of a Hollywood blockbuster, pick to watch a documentary of educational quality the next time you have a film night. Consult your children about the subject they are interested in, do a bit of googling and enjoy your evening!
2. Engage in some food geograph
Try a recipe from a different country every once in a while and use the family meal to teach your kids some basic facts about that country. It is an efficient way of cultural learning. However, be careful with the ingredients and do not experiment too much.
3. Let your kids know how things are done
If you have to do some simple work around the house, such as painting your fence, let your children see what you are doing. If they are too young to help you, they will certainly appreciate learning how it’s done. Make sure to keep an eye on them during the process.
4. Turn off your gadgets while eating
Let the family meals be really a time completely devoted to your kids. Talk about how was everyone’s day, recall some memories, make plans and enjoy the privilege of not having to depend on tech all the time.
5. Bring your child to work
If you have a chance, bring your kids to work every once in a while. They are probably curious about your career – so, make them happy, show them how you work, answer their questions and enjoy their joy. Of course, this refers to you only if your working environment is completely safe for the kids.
6. Invite your relatives for a dinner
Don’t wait for the occasion – create one. Host a dinner for your relatives so your children could establish a better communication with them. If you have relatives with kids aged as your kids, that means even more fun!
7. Visit a museum together
You and your partner enjoy lurking museums and galleries together? Maybe it’s time to include the children as well. Even if they are too young to understand all of the art pieces you’ll see, you can always find an exhibition that will be interesting to them as well.
8. Read together
If you are in love with the literature, try inspiring your family to read as well. Find 30 minutes a day to devote to reading and motivate each other to keep this tradition alive.
9. Throw in some jokes
Families that laugh together stay together! Share some jokes with your kids while doing the dishes or walking, as developing a sense of humor is also essential to a child’s emotional development.
10. Walk your pet together
You have to do it anyway, it’s a great habit for yours and your children’s physical health and it’s a great way to catch up. Pick a nice park or a street with lots of trees so you could feel the touch of nature at the same time.
11. Switch a TV night for a board game night
Although watching TV as a family can be nice, that’s a passive type of fun. Board games can help you bond as a family and help your kids foster a healthy competitive spirit.
12. Plan a holiday together
If you are planning a family vacation, allow your kids to participate in the process of choosing the perfect destination. Who knows – maybe your kids will help you solve a dilemma and you will certainly have fun.
13. Use the advantages of the modern tech
When you are not together, let your kids know you’re thinking of them. Send a few texts, give them a short call, send them a photo of that cute dog you’ve seen in the street.
14. Take lots of photos
Capture regular everyday moments and make them a great memory. One day, when you collect thousands of photos, you can create a time-lapse video, perfectly capturing how the times fly in your family.
Stay time-wise! Use the time you are already spending with your family to do meaningful and memorable things. It is as easy to do it as you are determined to do it!
